Leb-i-derya opened just over a decade ago, and is one of the pioneers of rooftop restaurants. It has a phenomenal view overlooking the Bosphorus and the historical peninsula that rightly makes it one of the most popular restaurants in town. Especially on the weekends it attracts a very hip (and sophisticated) crowd. The menu offers some modern interpretation of Turkish cuisine, famous for its piquant 40-spice steak in saffron sauce or its lamb shish that comes with plums, pomegranate molasses, smoked eggplant risotto and fresh thyme. Also the deserts differ from traditional Turkish ones: tahini parfait, pomegranate sorbet or a really delicious lavender ice cream. When making a reservation, ask to be seated on the terrace, where you have the best view.
They also opened a second location on the sixth floor of the Richmond Hotel in Tünel, with the same exceptional panoramic view but a more refined menu. The new venue also has a sleek long bar which invites to try some cocktails from the very extensive cocktail menu.
