Between the areas of Cukurcuma and Soho-like Cihangir, Cukurcuma 49 is located next to many antique furniture and vintage stores that make this area so unique. The café specialises in wine and pizza (with a turkish twist) made in a stone oven and with fresh, local ingredients. Their signature pizza is Pizza 49 with their home-made sauce topped with mozzarella, wild thyme and traditional Turkish pastrami (highly seasoned smoked beef, served in thin slices). They also have their own wine ‘Desperate House Wine’, made in Bozcaada, an island in the Aegean Sea and which is exclusively sold at Cukurcuma 49 (45TL). The Bozcaadan breakfast menu is also worth trying.
The focus on natural materials such as wood, bare brick, glass and comfy chairs give the place a very homely feel. The highlight is their glass floor which lets you see their impressive wine cellar. You will see many people sitting there with a laptop or reading a book, enjoying the warm atmosphere. Furthermore, the staff are very friendly.
